MISSING IN ACTION on 07 February 1945~POW~On Bombing Mission On The Lavis Viaduct, Italy, The Plane Was Hit By Flak Which Created a Large Hole In The Left Wing, Knocked Out The Left Aileron, And Caused Several Other Holes In The Plane. It Was Last Seen Under Control But Losing Altitude Going Away From The Target. It Was Later Learned, As Noted In The 448th BG War Diary Additional Narrative For February 1945, That The Entire Crew Of 6 Successfully Bailed Out Over Switzerland, Where They Were Interned For A Short Time And Were Returned To The 448th By The End Of February 1945.
