Back to the air war again. In missions today the 340th group hit both the road and rail bridges at Pordenone, 35 miles north of Venice, missed the Calliano bridge on the Brenner rail line, and managed to cut the tracks near the Rovereto bridge on the same line |

Mission to Colliano rail bridge, Italy. Missed. Got 66%. Knocked our bombing accuracy average in the head. Now it's only 91.66%. An epidemic of the GI's mixed up the schedule but finally everything was set. Paper bags, boxes, pails, helmets - anything that could be pressed into service was taken along - and some were used. |

The mission to Northern Italy was a complete failure. There is belief that the Germans did some "jamming," causing our radio-controlled bombs to release at the wrong time. |
