December 14, 1944 Chivasso Rail Road Bridge

340th HQ Diary	The 340th flew its 650th mission today, against the Chivasso rail bridge, cutting the tracks short of the bridge and possibly hitting the structure. Another mission, to Calliano railroad bridge was abortive owing to bad weather. Yesterday the group flew a nickeling mission to the Bologna front.

488th	Mission to road and rail bridge, Italy at Chivasso. 100% of course.
489th	[Entry for December 13th - 20th]: Except for a mission on the 15th, this has been a period of stand-downs. As was the case last year, weather again is an ally of the enemy. Local weather, with the exception of the past two days, which have been rainy, has been very good. There has been plenty of sunshine and at no time too much cold. [The author of this diary mis-spoke. The 489th ran this mission on the 14th and two on the 15th.]
