November 7, 1944 Mission to Ala Railroad Bridge

Squadron War Diary
Group HQ One mission was abortive today because of weather, while planes of the other mission successfully attacked the Ala and Latisana railroad bridges.
486th Two missions (6 ships each) today and the crews were interrogated very well by Lt. Bahm, better known as "Frag" (Short for the frag bombs which blew up on his P-47 when he bellied in some time ago in a fighter outfit).
487th Not assigned to this mission.
488th Not assigned to this mission.
489th The target was the Ala railroad bridge. it was a double track two-span steel bridge only one hundred feet long. Our first box scored at least two hits, one on the center and one near the north end. The second box of our planes dropped short and to the left.
