November 5, 1944 Missions #600 and #601 to the East and South Padua Railroad Bridges

Squadron War Diary
340th HQ Diary Successful attacks today on the east and south railroad bridges at Padua, and in addition, a visit by the 12th AF CG, Major General Cannon, the latter event causing every man to choke himself with a necktie he wears only when general officers pay the field a visit.
486th Again a mission - fine results.
487th The 487th pulled its first raid this morning in one day less than two weeks. Take-off for twelve ships was at 09:41 hours and they were over the target which was Padua East Railroad bridge at 11:47. The first box crossed the center of the bridge while the second box bombed in the smoke of preceding formations with exact results undetermined. Anti-Aircraft fire encountered was out of range and no damage was incurred. This was one of the longest, if not the longest mission we've had since being on Corsica.
488th Not assigned to this mission
489th Today we sent twelve planes to the Padua South railroad bridge. We dropped 48 thousand pounders and were credited with a mission efficiency of 83%.
