September 9, 1944 Mission Against Troop Concentrations at L-815020 (Santa Lucia)

Squadron	War Diary
Group HQ	Yesterday's [September 9th] and today's targets were both close support of the 5th Army's offensive against the Gothic Line driving from Florence to Bologna. Troop concentrations just north of Florence were bombed yesterday with the areas indicated as targets completely covered.
486th	Afternoon mission in support of troops on E. side of Gothic Line - Results Good. Lt. McMillen [flying 6S] landed late due to nose wheel trouble and consequently made a tail landing.
487th	Not assigned to this mission.
488th	From mission report: Flak heavy, moderate and accurate. Two planes holed, one man minor wounds Frag pattern started south and ran across target into north end of woods. [The wounded airman was 2nd Lt. John L. Jeffress]
