August 14, 1943 Mission to Palmi Junction
| Squadron | War Diary |

| 340th HQ Diary | For the first time today we bombed Italy proper. The 489th went out the first thing this morning and gave the island the hot foot. We have been running into a lot of weather lately and results are not clear. Clouds have been obscuring targets and photographs reveal very little. |
