August 4, 1944 Mission to Var River Railroad Bridge

Group HQ	Rail bridges in southern France were again the targets for today. The day's efforts again had excellent results with the two bridges intended as primary targets well covered and a Marshaling Yards, a target of opportunity, put out of commission.
486th	Morning mission today...Balance of day - as usual.
487th	Not assigned to this mission.
488th	From mission report: FLAK - Heavy, moderate and very accurate. 12 planes holed. RESULTS - 1st box started at bridge and continued over. 2nd box had a compact pattern across center with direct hits.
