July 22, 1944 Mission to Ronco Scrivia Railroad Bridge

Squadron War Diary
486th Late mission today - Results not too sharp.
487th The first mission out today was a weather reconnaissance flight of one plane to the Ronco Scrivia area. Then at 17:10 hours, six ships took off to bomb the railroad bridge at Ronco Scrivia. Several direct hits were observed on the bridge although due to height of formation, it was impossible to plot the entire pattern. Flack was inaccurate, causing no opposition to the formation.
488th Not assigned to this mission.
489th The Ronco Scrivia bridge in Italy was effectively bombed by planes of this Group. Taking off late in the afternoon, our boys were over the target at 6:27. Neither enemy aircraft nor ack-ack was encountered. On the way back a number of observations were made concerning enemy railroad traffic, shipping, the condition of bridges, aerodromes, and motor transport movements.
