April 30, 1944 Mission to Marsciano Railroad Bridge

Squadron	War Diary
486th	Target was Marsciano RR Bridge. Briefing at 1430 - take-off at 1546. The 486th bombed across the south approach to the Bridge. The second element bombed the warehouses and observed black smoke arising from them at a point immediately south of the bridge.
487th	Again today six of our planes took off at 15:40 to bomb the Marsciano railroad bridge, but the pattern landed beyond the target area to the right of the bridge. No enemy opposition was encountered throughout the raid.
488th	Mission to Marsciano R.R. Bridge. No excitement. The Squadron had 25 missions, 156 sorties and dropped 548,760 pounds of bombs for the month.
489th	The mission today was in the Orvieto sector, an important railroad bridge which no longer exists; the boys hit it squarely.
