April 2, 1945 Mission to Steinach Railroad Bridge & Tunnel Mouth

340th HQ Diary	They say a big push in Italy is imminent. (At Alesan, Corisca, where the air crews are still flying combat): a Shoran mission against the Fornova di Taro rail bridge met with excellent results. Other attacks were flown against the Steinach, Austria, south rail bridge and tunnel mouth (possible damage to latter) and against the Colle Isarco east bridge and Vo Sinistro rail fill, both of which were possibly damaged.
486th	Not assigned to this mission
487th	Steinach Railroad bridge and tunnel: Bombing was done on third pass. The pattern started on the bridge and extended into the tunnel mouth. No flak was encountered. 6 ships on mission.
488th	Escort: 7 P-47's Flak: Nil Results: 1st box bombed on 1st pass just west of tunnel and across bridge. 2nd box bombed on 2nd pass on bridge and pattern walked into mouth of tunnel.
489th	Not assigned to this mission
