March 19, 1945 Mission to Perca Rail Bridge
| Squadron | War Diary |
|---|---|
| 340th HQ Diary | The group flew its 800th mission yesterday, against the Muhldorf rail bridge in Austria, scoring direct hits on the installation. On two other missions direct hits were scored on Perca rail bridge and the San Michele diversion fill. |
| 486th | Missions were flown both yesterday and today, with a near miss on the block ship in La Spezia harbor yesterday and possible hits on the Perca Rail Bridge today. |
| 487th | The Squadron ran three missions this morning taking off at 11:50, 12:20 and 12:34 respectively. The first target was Perca railroad bridge in Northern Italy and the pattern landed north of the target possibly hitting the tracks. [...] Strangely enough all three missions were "milk runs" - no flak whatsoever was encountered. Three missions in one day is unusual for the Squadron, but it really makes the boys feel that they are back in the war again which after almost one year in Corsica is a novelty in itself. |
